a rainy week
Over here it’s been a rainy week on the côte d’azur. Soaked days going to school drop off/pick ups, playdates indoors, lots of antiquing, and cozy coffee dates indoors.
Yesterday, Neilson and I tried out a new chinese place for a bowl of hot noodles and fresh dumplings on a rainy day. Meanwhile, our families in Florida and Texas are sending snow drenched photos of themselves building snowmen. A rarity filled with excitement for these otherwise warm weather states. Can’t say we ever had a snow day growing up in Houston!
My white lotus** watching project this week has been working on a photo book on artifact uprising. I’m gathering years of film photos and organizing them all into one publication organized by city they were shot in. Doing so always inspires me to shoot more, and reminds me of so many memories. I love making photo books as gifts and gave some to our parents of photos from the Tour de France for Christmas. So why not make one for our own enjoyment?
*yes I am apparently years late to the white lotus game much to my best friends’ chagrin*
zurich
This past weekend Charlotte and I were in Zurich for a little getaway to see Ballett Zurich perform. This is my third time visiting Zurich and it’s such a charming little city. Not to mention the plane ride there over the Alps is astonishing. It was very cold in Switzerland, so bundling up to get into the stroller and go around time felt like a full time job.
I will say, the Swiss know how to make a cozy interior. Every café or restaurant we stepped into oozed warm lighting and cozy banquettes to sit at. Fireplaces lit and blankets draped on the back of chairs.
We stayed at la réserve au lac and ate at their restaurant a few times, as well as drei stuben for some old fashioned swiss freid food. Saturday morning, we took a guided tour through the city center and then meandered around before the sun started to peek out.
I had an afternoon nap of Charlotte’s to take a little walk on my own. Called my cousin and popped into monocle’s cafe and book shop. I lost track of time browsing their various publications and books before ordering a matcha for the walk home. It felt like everyone in the city had appeared after their proverbial nap times and come out for an afternoon espresso fix. Little kids bundled up in balaclavas and snowsuits. People sitting outside, wrapped up in blankets sipping coffee.
My other must visit stops on the weekend trip were: en soie, limited stock, le labo and cos
