solo mom uniform
We’re going on over a week here without Neilson and solo mom stretches of the season have begun. It doesn’t help that we’re on the tails of being sick. But keyword the tails and ending(!!) of the sickness. No more sore throat, wet cough and runny nose. Still many a grey days and some low energy, so needing to get out of the house for a change of scenery between breakfast and naptime.
My mom uniform is denim and a sweater. White sweatshirt, a mirth sweater, or my fave new cashmere sweater from cos on top. For denim, either levi 501s or my Mother wide legs are about all I reach for. On top a quilted coat, which I embarrassingly own multiple versions of in white, tan and black. But I stumbled across the tan at Zara this week and it’s even waterproof… They all have very different purposes.
If I’m feeling adventurous a pop of red for socks with autry’s or my yellow onitsuka tigers. If I’m feeling formal, my black chelsea boots.
For the days I need to wash my hair, a baseball cap and low pony for a sportier look. Or a beanie and gloves for the colder days. I live in uniqlo base layers. Long sleeve heattech, turtleneck cashmere, you name it.

weekly recap
Over the weekend, I hosted my galentines dinner after a day of preparing foods, stitching hearts and arranging flowers. In honor of my own childhood valentine’s traditions we had twice baked potatoes, caesar salad and steak. Then, topped it off with chocolate lava cakes, sour gummies and videos of Sabrina Carpenter.
Saturday, I drove to Tanneron with some friends to do a walk among the blooming mimosas. It was beautiful and sunny and full of families hiking to bring back the best branch of mimosas. I must say we forgot clippers, but a generous family gave me a massive branch to bring back thanks to Charlotte’s adventurous friendliness with their daughter.
On Sunday, we laid low and a friend came over for coffee in the afternoon. We had cinnamon rolls and watched the end of Neilson’s bike race before some pasta pomodoro for dinner.
Monday, I perused the antique market with a coffee in hand after dropping Charlotte off at school. And that evening we had an epic White Lotus season 3 viewing party complete with chocolate lava cakes and popcorn.
Yesterday, Charlotte and I went into town and did some window shopping and grocery bopping for dinner. We finished the evening facetiming with dad over grilled cheese and tomato soup.
This morning, we headed out the door for a coffee and playdate with two other moms and kids. We moms found each other through an expat whatsapp group when our kids were ~10 months and it’s been so fun watching them grow and play together over the past year. Having them in the thick of sleep regressions and runny noses and teething and navigating French childcare has truly been my saving grace living so far from family. And who else will be as excited that your child is eating again or walking or finally cut their new tooth. 🥺
For how slowly January passed by, February is really flying by! Happy wednesday to all-xxf
