zurich guide + world championships
We are back home after a long weekend in Zurich. I’m basking in the sunshine and warm temps here in Nice, after being bundled up in the one sweater and pair of jeans I packed for the trip to Switzerland. Probably could have done a better job at checking the weather beforehand.
I put together a little Zurich guide here. Fair warning, Switzerland is expensive. I didn’t buy any big things because they all just felt pricey. but had a great time browsing.

I had one day to explore the city/hit my shopping saves and it was pouring rain. but I persisted. picked up a few little bits and bobs, trinkets for charlotte and a little gift for mom.
The next day was Sunday and a full race watching day, so most things were closed and we concentrated all our efforts on darting around town to catch the race passing at different times. In the end, we settled for a megatron in front of the Opera house and sat at Lulus for a bowl of pasta to warm up after a cold day of trekking.
Public transportation was super easy to use, except for the time that I confidently took us on a train in the complete opposite direction. It’s really stroller friendly and tickets are easy to buy at the kiosks in the stations. We also used the tram a fair bit which is above ground.

The reason for our weekend trip to Zurich, was to watch Neilson race in World Championships. It was a killer race and actually my first time watching worlds in person. Or rooting for USA, instead of EF, in person. I found a red accessory don’t worry.
It’s always nice to go to races and meet families of riders and wives and hear their stories and where they come from. We may have very little in common on paper, but being married to someone in this profession means automatically having about 75% of our lives in common.
We came home exhausted, and Charlotte and I had caught a cold. We’ve been recovering from the Swiss bug and laying low, planning and packing for our next week of trips. To close out the season, the theme of all of our travel is a bike race + a trip. We’re looking forward to embracing the offseason and some r+r for everyone in the family in just over two weeks. It’s hard to believe it’s already October when I keep thinking it’s still June somehow.
Oh and I have a one year old. How! This age is so fun and Charlotte is getting more and more responsive, chatty and mobile. Her little personality is really coming through and it’s nice to see in the midst of her being calm like her dad, she got the drama of her mama.
